Mayday. (part I of II).

May 1st is supposed to be the celebration of the glory of nature. The fiesta of earth, nature, flowers and wildlife. With this opportunity I am uploading a few photographs I took the last few days at the hills of Imittos,  a not so high range close to where I live. It looks like the mountain is recovering (when protected) quickly from the fires it has suffered in the recent years by fires set up on purpose, by arsonists, as this is a prime land for developing. All this came up to my mind while I was up there, walking off the paths and recollecting my thoughts. I was thinking what we have been doing to mother earth, how we have exploited natural resources, how we have destroyed the natural environment and habitat of the wildlife just for profit. And it looks like the earth is fighting us back and revenging for all this destruction. With respect and prayers for the victims of the recent natural disasters in Japan and the Southern States of America, I believe we have just this one last chance to revise our ways of exploiting Earth and Nature. It is time to take some action NOW.

You're so right Costas. It's a big discussion here in Switz too. They're deciding not to build another nuclear plant, which is a good thing, but there are still two that need to be fixed!

Plus, Switz taxes its citizens if they put up solar panels! They really are not helping at all... it's sad.

Some beautiful photos Costas, but I agree,
there is a thoughtless uncaring destruction to nature, the root being Greed!
Housing developments going on in & around the village where I live. In the process, trees that have stood for so many years have now been cut down! Very sad to see!
But enjoy May Day Costas!

these are beautiful Costas. I agree. Mother Nature seems very angry with us and our selfishness and waste and (as Shirleyanne said) greed.

May Day should be reserved just for you and your beautiful photos Costas.

Thank you for your care and concern. We're safe and incredibly blessed but so many have lost their lives and the number that have lost their homes is incomprehensible!

Absolutely. We need to take better care of our environment - I think Mother Earth is being buried and stifled by the weight and greed of humanity.

Even so, I rejoice in Her beauty - Her ability to reclaim what is lost. Your pictures are proof that even the smallest creatures are perfect and beautiful, that Mother Nature hasn't quite given up on us yet.

P.S. Did you happen to notice all of those beautiful HEARTS in your shots? :=}

Thank you all for your kind comments again. I am glad we are all thinking alike regarding earth and environmental pollution and destruction.

I will be away for a few days again as I have some obligations to face and I will miss you all.

I hope we shall be together again in about a week.
have a great weekend and a better week all of you.
