Waiting for the sun to rise in Crete.

It was two week ago. I was in Crete again for a few days. And I was waiting for the sun to rise over the Bay of Suda in western Crete. I was not disappointed. For two consecutive mornings it was worth getting up early and watch the sun rise in all its glory. Different cloud formations each day and different sets of photographs. I used my Nikon D90 camera and the Sigma 18-50, f2.8 lens. I like to use high shutter speeds, up to 1/4000 sec. They give a more dramatic tone to the scene.
But, we all live in a drama here for all last year. Or better a Greek tragedy, with all that is happening. And we are all expecting the mechanized god, "Deus ex Machina" to come to our salvation and give a solution with the new year. In classic Greek tragedies, he used to intervene at the last moment and give a satisfactory solution to the drama. In our times we can not afford to be so pessimistic. All we can do is hope for the best. For us here and the rest of the world.
Happy New Year to all of you and your families.
