Early signs of Spring. Πρώιμα σημάδια της άνοιξης..!

Although there is still a long way to go to reach spring, we are having the first signs that it is on the way. The almond trees have started blooming. (today's photographs).

Αν και έχουμε ακόμη πολύ δρόμο μέχρι να μας μπεί η άνοιξη, αρχίζουν να φαίνονται τα πρώτα σημάδια της. Οι αμυγδαλιές έχουν αρχίσει ν' ανθίζουν. (Σημερινές φωτογραφίες).

An unexpected encounter downtown Athens. Μια απρόσμενη συνάντηση στο κέντρο της Αθήνας.!

late in the afternoon yesterday. I was walking along the street downtown Athens, when I heard them screeching and saw them on the tree across the street. Parrots are not birds you can see in Greece but it seems that the last few years, quiete a few of them, are calling Greece "home".
The light was fading at the time of our encounter, and i did not have the tele lens on my camera so the photographs are not what they should be. But I did my best.

Αργά χθές το απόγευμα, όπως βάδιζα στην  οδό Πατησίων, ανάμεσα στο Πολυτεχνείο και το Μουσείο, τους άκουσα να φωνάζουν πάνω στο δένδρο. Οι παπαγάλοι δεν είναι πουλιά της Ελλάδας, αλλά φαίνεται πως τα τελευταία χρόνια αρκετοί έκαναν την Ελλάδα κατοικία τους.
Το φως ήταν λιγοστό, δεν είχα και τηλεφακό πάνω στην μηχανή μου και οι συνθήκες της φωτογράφισης δεν έταν οι καλύτερες.. Αλλά έκανα ότι μπορούσα..!

An afternoon encounter..! Μια απογευματινή συνάντηση..!

It was a beautiful day and good for some exercise, so i decided to take a walk on nearby hill. Above the suburb of Vouliagmani, south of Athens. The name Vouliagmeni, in Greek, means "sunken" . Long time ago, the top of a large cave, at the slopes near the sea, collapsed, and a  lake was formed with fresh water from thermal springs. The lake is used all the time, summer and winter by people suffering from arthritis and other diseases of the skeleton. They say it is good. The whole are is beautiful and it must be one of the most expensive residential areas in Greece. I had the chance, once again, to admire the view from above.

Ήταν όμορφη μέρα χθές και είπα να κάνω μια βόλτα πάνω από την Βουλιαγμένη, να ξεμουδιάσω και λίγο. Η θέα από ψηλά, ΄ήταν όπως πάντα υπέροχη και με αποζημίωσε με το παραπάνω.
